Reusable Bags & Bottles
Since October 2013, Breckenridge instituted a 10-cent fee on most plastic and paper bags given out at retail and grocery stores. The fee is intended to encourage the use of reusable bags and dissuade the use of disposable bags. Customers who use reusable bags at checkout are not charged the fee. Revenues collected provide public information about the program and promote the use of reusable bags. The town offers a specially-designed reusable “Breckenridge Bag.” It is available for sale at select retail stores and other locations like the Welcome Center and the Recreation Center. These bags are also available to visitors via the front desks of participating lodging companies and shuttles.
Breckenridge also encourages everyone to use reusable bottles while visiting town. Since we’re at the mouth of the headwaters, you can’t get fresher alpine water than this! Enjoy it from several water filling stations across town.
