What's the perfect supplement to a Breckenridge winter getaway? A world-class beer festival, of course! This annual festival, which USA Today readers have chosen as one of the top ten beer festivals for two years in a row, is held the second weekend of January. Renowned brew masters and brewery owners bring hundreds of big, Belgian-style and experimental beers for everyone to taste, and they're on hand to discuss the beers and beer-making too. A brewmasters' dinner and other dining events show off pairings of beer and food, and there are beer-related educational seminars, a home-brew competition and other side events. The highlight of the weekend is the Commercial Tasting Event, an international slice of beer life featuring more than 400 beers from more than 150 different breweries. This festival is nearing its 20th anniversary and has become a highly respected event that appeals to beer-industry professionals, amateur brewers and people who just like to drink beer.
